How we organise classes
Our pupils are in mixed-age classes and therefore are taught on a cycle system. Planning can be adapted to allow for flexibility owing to class need or local and national events and focuses. We assess pupils using a system which shows how pupils are able to work with the skills and knowledge required for their year group. They are described as ‘Emerging, Developing, Secure or Mastery’. Curriculum Intent documents work alongside Skills and Knowledge information to help staff to plan effectively and measure attainment.
Staff are free to organise topics during the school year as they see fit. The preferred option is blocking topics/ subjects of work over a week or more to support the building of skills and learning.
PE (sport) Maths and English are planned separately.
